Baku wraps up D-8 media forum with commitment to regional cooperation, joint initiatives Updated
Baku has concluded the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation media forum, held under the theme “Fostering Dialogue, Collaboration and Regional CoBhesion”.
Organised by the Media Development Agency (MEDIA), the event brought together senior officials, leading media representatives from D-8 member states, and industry experts to discuss the expansion of regional and international information exchange, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
D-8 Secretary-General Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam highlighted Azerbaijan’s initiative to establish a D-8 Centre for Media Excellence on its territory, a proposal warmly received by participants. Delegates emphasised their commitment to strengthening media cooperation and developing joint projects across the member states.
The forum featured two panel discussions: “Responsible Journalism and Digital Innovation” and “Strategic Communication and Crisis Management”.
The event concluded with the adoption of the Baku Declaration, outlining measures to expand collaboration in the media sector within the D-8 framework. Discussions also focused on combating disinformation, implementing digital projects, and sharing expertise.
Around 150 guests attended the forum, including 71 delegates from the eight member countries and the D-8 Secretariat.

The Forum features two panel sessions addressing “Responsible Journalism and Digital Innovation” and “Strategic Communication and Crisis Management.” In addition, a workshop on “Media Ethics in a Digitalising World: Technologies, Trends and Narratives” is also being held.
Almost 150 delegates are attending, including 71 representatives from the eight D-8 member countries and the D-8 Secretariat. The Forum aims to strengthen cooperation and dialogue among media professionals in the region.
