Baku Initiative Group seeks end to colonialism worldwide Liberation Front of French Colonies replies to Paris
The Liberation Front of French Colonies has issued a statement in response to the statement of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs on the need to refrain from travelling to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"Although the prime minister of France has not yet formed his government, the actions of the outgoing Minister of the Interior and the alarming warnings of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Azerbaijan are of no concern to anyone. The next step by the government will undoubtedly be a complete ban on 'French citizens' visiting this country. This decision creates a contradiction between 'human rights' and the 'free movement of people and goods' and will be absolutely illegal. The actions of the French state are pursuing only one goal: to prevent the Baku Initiative Group from continuing to fulfil the mandate given to it by the Non-Aligned Movement under the United Nations framework. The mission of the Baku Initiative Group is to put an end to colonialism worldwide."
In July of this year, the leaders of political parties and movements fighting for the independence of French colonies held their first congress in Baku and established the Liberation Front of French Colonies. Officials from 17 French and Dutch colonies signed the final declaration on the creation of the Front. The participants also approved the Charter of the Front.
