Baku meeting focuses on Azerbaijan-Pakistan strategic and diplomatic relations
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Yousuf Reza Gilani held discussions in Baku on February 18, focusing on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Gilani is in Azerbaijan to participate in the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Caliber.Az has learned from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The meeting addressed enhancing ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the significance of parliamentary diplomacy, and the regional situation in the post-conflict period.
Bayramov expressed satisfaction with his official visit to Pakistan last year, recalling his meeting with Gilani during that trip. He noted that intensive high-level contacts between the two countries significantly contributed to the development of their strategic partnership.
The minister highlighted the vast potential for further expanding Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations both bilaterally and within multilateral platforms. The discussion also covered cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. Both sides reaffirmed their unwavering support for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Bayramov also briefed the Pakistani delegation on the latest developments and evolving regional dynamics in the post-conflict period. He provided updates on Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and demining efforts in territories liberated from occupation, as well as the ongoing process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
