Belarus, Azerbaijan expand trade ties with joint vehicle production
Belarusian Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov has said that Azerbaijan is one of Belarus’ key partners.
He made the remarks following the signing of an agreement to assemble a new batch of 100 municipal vehicles on Minsk Automobile Plant chassis at the Ganja Auto Plant, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The minister emphasised that the agreement marks another step in developing mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The minister noted that Belarusian machinery has proven itself well in the Azerbaijani market.
“A contract has now been signed for the supply of 100 vehicle kits, from which we will jointly produce municipal vehicles to meet Azerbaijan’s needs. This is another step toward further mutually beneficial cooperation,” the minister added.
The agreement was signed today in Minsk by Khanlar Fatiyev, chairman of the supervisory board of the Ganja Auto Plant, and Valery Ivankovich, CEO of OJSC MAZ.
The signing follows directives by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Alexander Lukashenko issued during the Belarusian leader’s visit to Azerbaijan.
“Over the past three years, we have doubled our trade turnover and established joint ventures that will further strengthen our mutually beneficial bilateral relations. Our relations with Azerbaijan are developing successfully,” Kuznetsov stressed.
According to him, the Minsk Tractor Works performs excellently, and fruitful cooperation with the Minsk Automobile Plant continues as well.
The Ganja Auto Plant and MAZ have developed municipal vehicles equipped with modern equipment designed and assembled in Ganja.
These vehicles are intended to service urban infrastructure across Azerbaijan, helping to modernise the country’s municipal fleet.
