Brawl in Armenian parliament: Pashinyan's party clashes with opposition VIDEO
A brawl broke out between pro-government and opposition MPs during a session of the Armenian parliament on April 22.
Tensions flared after a statement by National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan regarding an alleged internal conflict within the "Armenia" faction, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
According to him, the faction's non-partisan members had "fallen hostage to the Dashnaktsutyun party."
Simonyan’s remark was immediately challenged from the floor by "Armenia" MP Garnik Danielyan, prompting other opposition representatives to join the argument. Video footage shows the verbal spat between opposition MP Gegham Manukyan and ruling "Civil Contract" party member Vaghe Galumyan escalating into a physical altercation.
The conflict quickly intensified, with other MPs joining the brawl. Particularly active members of "Civil Contract" — Aren Mkrtchyan and Narek Grigoryan — had to be restrained by their own colleagues.
A few minutes later, officers from the State Protection Service entered the chamber to break up the fight. The speaker then announced a 20-minute recess.
Драка между депутатами от власти и оппозиции произошла на сегодняшнем заседании парламента Армении, сообщают армянские СМИ.
