BTC oil shipment volume reaches 4 billion barrels since early 2023
From January to March 2023, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline's operational costs amounted to about $34 million.
At the same time, capital expenditures on the BTC pipeline reached $10 million, APA reports quoting BP (the project’s operator) in its report on operations in Azerbaijan for the first quarter of this year.
By the end of the first quarter, the 1,768-km BTC pipeline, commissioned in June 2006, had transported more than 539 million tonnes [4 billion barrels] of crude since it became operational. This oil was shipped on 5,314 tankers at Ceyhan and sent to world markets.
"About 7 million tonnes [about 53 million barrels] of crude oil and condensate exported via BTC in the first quarter of this year were loaded onto 70 tankers at Ceyhan terminal and shipped out of the terminal," it said.
