SOCAR, Egypt sign framework deal as gas supplies to Europe surge photo
A framework agreement outlining key areas of cooperation has been signed between SOCAR and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), marking a step forward in energy collaboration between Azerbaijan and Egypt.
According to SOCAR, cited by local media, the signing ceremony took place as part of the 9th Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition, EGYPS 2026, where discussions focused on major global energy priorities, including energy security, sustainable development, renewable energy, and the implementation of modern technologies.
Within the conference, SOCAR Deputy Vice President Vitaliy Baylarbayov took part in panel discussions held under the theme “Reshaping Global Trade Flows.” In his remarks, he emphasized Azerbaijan’s significant contribution to Europe’s energy security and highlighted the strategic importance of national energy initiatives, particularly the Southern Gas Corridor.
Baylarbayov recalled that the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, a key component of the Southern Gas Corridor, was fully commissioned in December 2020. He noted that Azerbaijani gas is currently exported to 16 countries, including 10 European Union member states.
He added that in 2025, Azerbaijan supplied approximately 13 billion cubic meters of gas to European consumers, marking an increase of around 60 percent compared to 2021 levels.
