Bundestag delegation ends Baku visit with focus on politics, energy ties PHOTO
A delegation from the German Bundestag’s parliamentary group on Germany–South Caucasus has concluded an intensive programme in Baku, with discussions centred on regional politics, the peace process and energy cooperation, according to the German Embassy in Azerbaijan.
Following a visit to Karabakh earlier in the week, the delegation spent the day after in the capital, holding a series of high-level meetings covering political and economic issues, Caliber.Az reports.
At the Milli Majlis (Parliament), talks with Vice-Speaker Musa Gasimli underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The delegation also met Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, for an in-depth exchange on the regional political landscape and the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process.
Energy cooperation and opportunities for German companies in the region featured prominently in meetings with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan SOCAR, and the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce.
The embassy described the programme as “multi-layered and high-level”, adding that direct dialogue of this kind is important for strengthening bilateral relations between Germany and Azerbaijan in both political and economic spheres.
Officials thanked Azerbaijani partners for their hospitality and cooperation.
