Campaign to "liberate Armenians held in Baku" condemned as propaganda by Azerbaijani group ahead of COP29
As the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) approaches, set to be held in Azerbaijan this November, certain factions within Armenia, the Armenian diaspora, and individuals like Luis Ocampo in Western countries are intensifying a campaign to "liberate the Armenians held in Baku".
"The Armenian society that considers itself tolerant, and representatives of certain circles who frequently speak on human rights and values, should first ask their authorities why they occupied Azerbaijani territories for 30 years. They should demand apologies for the occupation and seek answers regarding the fate of up to 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis," stated the Western Azerbaijani Community, as reported by Caliber.Az.
The statement highlights the availability of numerous photos and videos on the Internet showing atrocities committed by the Armenian army against Azerbaijani civilians. It urges Armenian society to demand that their authorities and "independent judiciary" hold these criminals accountable.
"Until this happens, calls to 'release the Armenians held in Baku' will remain nothing more than falsity, propaganda of national exclusivity, and vile agitation against Azerbaijan ahead of such a prestigious event as COP29," the statement concludes.
