Casualties as drone crashes into apartment building in Russia's Cheboksary VIDEO/PHOTO
Russia's Cheboksary city came under a wave of strikes on May 5, with multiple sites across the city reported damaged and casualties confirmed after a drone struck a newly built residential building.
The attack initially hit the “VNIIR-Progress” plant, and later damage was reported at the “MTV Centre” shopping and entertainment complex and the Cheboksary Electromechanical College, Caliber.Az reports, citing Telegram channels Yezh and Mash.
Another Ukrainian drone subsequently hit a residential high-rise. The drone crashed into the sixth floor of an apartment building, triggering a fire.
Windows were shattered in at least eight apartments, and residents are being evacuated.
A 45-year-old man and a 60-year-old female pensioner were injured.

“Mosque attendants immediately rushed out to help the wounded; they were carried away on stretchers and hospitalised. The elderly woman was unable to descend from the seventh floor for a long time,” the outlet said.
The entire neighbourhood around Gladkova Street is reportedly being evacuated. Emergency services are extinguishing the fire.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on Chuvashia has been ongoing since the night: drones struck at least three residential buildings on Lenkom, Khuzangaya, and Stroiteley streets, with one drone flying into a sixth-floor apartment and another hitting the roof of a shopping centre.
“Sirens continue to sound across the city, some streets are closed, and public transport routes are being altered,” it added.
Air raid sirens continue to sound in the region, and air defence systems remain active.
