China affirms full support for Azerbaijan's COP29 chairmanship

26 September 2024 21:24

China has declared its complete support for Azerbaijan's upcoming chairmanship at COP29.

The affirmation was made by Ding Tao, Chinese Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, as he addressed an event marking the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Tao emphasized China's commitment to building a fair and mutually beneficial global climate management system alongside Azerbaijan. He noted that practical cooperation between the two nations is steadily deepening, with bilateral trade turnover witnessing a remarkable 21.9 per cent year-on-year increase in the first seven months of this year, reaching record levels.

He highlighted the positive impact of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, which is enhancing coordination within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The number of China-Europe railway express trains passing through Azerbaijan is rapidly rising, facilitating stronger trade connections, he said.

The diplomat also pointed out that Azerbaijani products are gaining increasing recognition in China, reflecting the dynamic growth of trade between the two countries. He reiterated that over the past 32 years, China-Azerbaijan relations have thrived based on mutual respect for sovereignty, non-interference, equality, and peaceful coexistence, showcasing successful cooperation despite differing social systems and ideologies.

Additionally, he mentioned ongoing collaboration within international organizations.
