Command and staff drills underway as Azerbaijani Army sharpens combat decision-making PHOTO
In accordance with the Azerbaijani Army’s combat training plan for 2025, comprehensive command and staff exercises are currently underway across the country’s armed forces.
These exercises involve the active participation of the Ministry’s key directorates and departments, as well as the various branches of troops, military services, and the headquarters of the Separate Combined Arms Army, Caliber.Az has learned from the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
All activities are being conducted in strict alignment with the structured military decision-making process.
On May 15, Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, held a videoconference session during which he was briefed by the participating military headquarters on the progress and implementation of the training tasks.
During the session, the Minister emphasised that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, had expressed satisfaction with the performance and activities of the Azerbaijani Army. He conveyed to the participants the President’s expectations and the key objectives that have been set for the armed forces.
The purpose of the command and staff exercises—carried out under conditions simulating real combat and based on contemporary battlefield experience—is to refine the decision-making process of military leadership.
The exercises also aim to improve coordination and operational readiness by taking into account the manoeuvrability of the deployed units. A core focus of the training is the planning and execution of both defensive and counteroffensive military operations.
