COP29 organizing committee progresses on preparations in Baku
The 7th meeting of the Organizing Committee for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change convened in Baku.
Chaired by Samir Nuriyev, head of the Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, the meeting focused on the ongoing preparations and implementation of the action plan for the upcoming conference, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Nuriyev highlighted the diligent efforts made thus far and emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev is closely monitoring the progress of the preparations.
He reiterated the importance of collaborative initiatives, noting that various state institutions will coordinate with international partners to host a series of significant events during COP29.
Key officials, including Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and COP29 President-Designate; Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan; Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance; and Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education, contributed insights during the discussions.
Concluding the meeting, Nuriyev issued directives aimed at ensuring the effective execution of the planned activities associated with COP29, underscoring Azerbaijan's commitment to addressing climate change on a global stage. As preparations continue, anticipation grows for the pivotal discussions that will take place in Baku.
