Czech minister: Addressing housing challenges requires multi-level governance

17 May 2026 11:46

Housing accessibility, infrastructure requirements, and regional inequalities call for stronger multi-level governance, improved coordination, and stable, predictable funding, Zuzana Mrázová, Czech Minister of Regional Development, has stated, during a ministerial roundtable at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

The minister emphasized that the Czech government regards the provision of housing as a key public interest, forming the basis of social cohesion and economic opportunity, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

"This approach guides reforms aimed at modernizing legal frameworks, supporting vulnerable groups, and strengthening municipal capacity. We also emphasize the importance of integrated urban development. Of course, challenges in housing remain," she noted.

She emphasised that these challenges are shared and require joint responses.

"Looking ahead, the Czech Republic will continue to prioritize affordable housing, climate-resilient and energy-efficient urban development, strengthening municipal capacity, and fostering strong partnerships with local authorities, civil society, the private sector, and academia. We are ready to work with global partners to implement this new Enhanced Agenda in an advanced and inclusive way," she stressed.
