Defence chief: Italy-Azerbaijan military ties to boost both armies PHOTO

On July 24, Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov held a meeting with General Luciano Portolano, Chief of the Italian Defence Staff, who is currently on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence told Caliber.Az that Minister Hasanov welcomed General Portolano and expressed his satisfaction with the visit. He praised the current state of Azerbaijani-Italian military relations and underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.

General Portolano, for his part, highlighted the value of reciprocal high-level visits and stated that deepening military ties between Italy and Azerbaijan would serve to reinforce the armed forces of both nations.

The meeting, which also included the participation of Italy’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Luca Di Gianfrancesco, covered a wide range of topics, including military and military-technical cooperation, joint efforts in military education, and regional security developments.
