Doha to host 2025 Gas Exporting Countries Forum ministerial meeting PHOTO
The 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will be held in Doha, Qatar, in the fourth quarter of 2025.
This announcement was made following the conclusion of the 26th GECF meeting in Tehran, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
"Azerbaijan plays a key role in the global energy market due to its rich natural gas resources and strategic location. Azerbaijani gas is imported by 12 countries, which reflects the growing demand for our energy resources," Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov emphasised during the meeting.
Azerbaijan has been participating in the GECF Forum as an observer since 2015.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an intergovernmental organisation that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and information among its member states.
As a gathering of the world’s top natural gas exporting nations, the GECF aims to establish a platform for constructive dialogue between gas producers and consumers. Its goal is to enhance the stability and security of global gas supply and demand markets.
Full members of the GECF include: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the UAE, and Venezuela.
Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mozambique, Peru, and Senegal hold observer status.
With its current membership, the GECF holds a commanding position in global energy markets and within international energy organizations. Collectively, its members control 69 per cent of the world’s gas reserves, 39 per cent of marketed production, and 40 per cent of global gas exports. GECF members account for over half of global LNG exports, with a share of 51 per cent.
The GECF is eager to welcome new members who share its core interests and objectives as outlined in its Statute.
