Elon Musk opens preschool in Texas, pioneering hands-on, anti-woke education vision
Elon Musk’s new Montessori preschool, Ad Astra, located in Bastrop, Texas, represents a significant step in his broader educational vision.
Initially intended for the children of Musk’s employees, the school is designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking through thematic, STEM-based activities, outdoor play, and even nap time. The school, which recently received a state permit to operate, is part of Musk’s broader initiative to reshape education, spanning from preschool to college, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
Ad Astra, currently open to children aged 3 to 9, has hired a director and plans to accommodate up to 21 students. The school collaborates with Xplor Education, a firm experienced with high-net-worth clients, including those tied to Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
The curriculum is aligned with Musk’s interest in hands-on, problem-solving education, aiming to produce the next generation of innovators without the influence of “social propaganda” commonly seen in traditional schools. Musk has publicly criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, which aligns with his political affiliations, including his support for Donald Trump.
The school’s proposed tuition will initially be subsidized but later match rates of local private schools. While the physical site of Ad Astra remains a work in progress, the school is already positioned as an example of Musk’s vision for future education systems.
This initiative complements his wider interests in workforce development and innovation, with Musk promoting a curriculum centered around practical skills such as carpentry and plumbing.
