EU "observers" caught on camera recording Azerbaijan’s borders VIDEO

07 November 2024 15:23

On November 6, at approximately 12:05, European Union “observers” involved in intelligence gathering along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border were documented stopping at the 51st border post in EU-owned Toyota vehicles.

Later that day, at around 12:28, they were also seen on a road near the village of Kornidzor in the Gorus region, Caliber.Az reports via the local Telegram channel Ordu.Az.

The footage indicates that a total of 10 EU observers, accompanied by two Armenian military personnel who arrived in an Armenian-owned pickup truck and a Niva car, were recording the Azerbaijani territory.

The videos further show surveillance being conducted towards the village of Myazem and in the direction of Fatalipaya in the Lachin region.

Previously, the European Union’s monitoring mission along the Azerbaijan-Armenia border raised concerns after a convoy of three vehicles was seen on October 23.

The convoy, which included two black SUVs and a white EU-marked vehicle, was spotted near the villages of Baghanis Ayrum and Voskepar, also known as Yukhari Askipara. It then moved to an area near Azerbaijan's Farahli village, where Armenian military personnel are engaged in engineering tasks.

During this encounter, European observers spoke with the Armenian soldiers, prompting questions about their role: are they simply observers, or are they acting as military advisors with potential intelligence objectives?

Notably, the European Union (EU) launched its EU civilian mission in Armenia (EUMA) under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The mission commenced on February 20 following a decision by the European Council on January 23, 2023.

The mission comprises approximately 100 civilian staff, including around 50 unarmed observers. The Operational Headquarters is situated in Yeghegnadzor, in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province.

Stefano Tomat, Managing Director of the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) within the European External Action Service (EEAS), is serving as the Civilian Operation Commander, while Markus Ritter is leading the mission as Head of Mission.
