EU reaffirms commitment to Azerbaijan–Armenia peace agenda
The normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will feature prominently on the agenda of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting taking place today in Luxembourg.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas made the remarks ahead of the meeting, stating that the issue will be an important focus of discussions, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She said the European Union views dialogue between Baku and Yerevan as a key factor in ensuring security and stability in the South Caucasus region. As a result, the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia remains one of the priorities of the EU’s foreign policy in the region.
According to Kallas, participants at the meeting are expected to discuss further steps to support the normalization process, as well as the possibility of launching a new EU mission in Armenia.
“We will also discuss how we can further work on relations with Azerbaijan,” she said.
Kallas added that Brussels intends to continue engaging with both sides to advance the peace agenda. She emphasized the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue between the parties and achieving long-term agreements.
