Ex-Armenian separatist leader admits role in military operations against Azerbaijan Trial in Baku continues
At a court session in the Baku Military Court on May 19, the defendant Bako Sahakyan answered questions about his activities in the Azerbaijani territories occupied following the capture of the city of Shusha.
Bako Sahakyan stated that beginning in June 1993, he held the position of Chief of Staff for Rear Support, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the interrogation, a video recording was shown in which Bako Sahakyan appears. In the footage, military personnel are seen sitting around a table discussing documents and a map. From the video and Sahakyan’s testimony, it became clear that commanders were taking part in these discussions.
Sahakyan identified himself in the footage, along with General Kristapor Ivanyan, Samvel Karapetyan, Movses Hakobyan, Samvel Babayan, Vitaly Balasanyan, Vachagan Ishkhanyan and others.
Bako Sahakyan, who formerly led the separatist regime established by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, admitted during the trial to his participation in the planning and discussion of military operations and combat missions carried out with the aim of occupying Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories by Armenia.
For the record, the trial in Baku continues against Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including the planning and waging of an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and numerous other crimes.
