Ex-head of Russian anti-doping lab re-listed as wanted
Former head of Moscow’s anti-doping laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov, has been re-listed as wanted in Russia, according to the Interior Ministry’s database.
Special details note that he has been re-listed as wanted, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Rodchenkov, Grigory Mikhailovich, is wanted under the criminal code,” the database states.
Law enforcement sources said that a new criminal case could be behind the decision to reissue the warrant.
Rodchenkov faces charges of abuse of office, obstruction of justice, and illegal handling of potent or toxic substances. He was arrested in absentia and placed on the international wanted list in September 2017.
The Ministry of Sport of Russia and the now-defunct Russian Anti-Doping Centre, which Rodchenkov headed from 2006 to 2015, are recognised as the victims in the case.
Since January 2016, Rodchenkov has been residing in the United States, where he became an informant for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
