Five Iranian hospitals reported damaged in Israeli strikes, Red Crescent confirms
Five hospitals in Iran have been damaged as a result of Israeli strikes, the head of the country’s Red Crescent Society, Pirhossein Kolivand, said.
The precise identities of the affected medical facilities and the exact timing of the incidents remain unclear. Kolivand described the impact, noting that “glass windows were shattered and patients were left with breathing difficulties due to smoke from the blasts,” Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
While emphasizing that the hospitals were not directly targeted, Kolivand indicated that the Red Crescent would be formally raising the issue with international prosecutors, underscoring that “attacking hospitals during conflict is a violation of international humanitarian law.”
He further stated, “We sent the Israeli regime’s attacks, which are against international principles, as a document to international institutions.”
In a reciprocal claim, Israel reported damage to one of its major healthcare facilities, the Soroka Medical Center, following an alleged Iranian strike on June 19. Iran has denied these accusations, rejecting claims of intentionally targeting the Israeli hospital.
