FM: Azerbaijan committed to peace talks with Armenia
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan Muriel Peneveyre in connection with the completion of the term of diplomatic activity in the country on February 7.
The agenda of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, including ties in various fields, issues of cooperation within international organisations, as well as the current regional and international situation were discussed during the meeting, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov noted the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland in the political, economic, trade, humanitarian and other fields, thanked the ambassador for efforts in this sphere and wished success in her future activity.
The minister also informed the guest about the regional situation in the post-conflict period, reconstruction work in the liberated Azerbaijani territories, efforts to promote the peace agenda and normalise relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
While speaking about Armenia’s provocations, which undermine the peace agenda, including the provocations around the Lachin road, Bayramov noted that despite this, and Armenia’s unfounded claims to mislead the international community, Azerbaijan firmly determined to continue the peace process.
Bayramov also informed the ambassador about the ongoing mine threat in the Azerbaijani territories.
Peneveyre noted the potential for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland both at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
She recalled the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2022, the work of the bilateral commission, and high-level visits. The importance of further negotiations on a peace treaty for establishing peace and security in the region was noted.
