FM Bayramov, EU envoy Grono review peace process between Azerbaijan, Armenia
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, with discussions focusing particularly on the normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In a post on X, the ministry stated that advancing dialogue and cooperation in the region was among the key points of the discussions.
Both sides highlighted the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement, the progress achieved in peace negotiations, and the need to maintain momentum toward a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement.
The talks also covered prospects for expanding Azerbaijan–EU cooperation, including energy security, transport connectivity, and broader economic partnership, alongside the significance of sustaining consistent and stable contacts.
In a separate meeting held within the framework of the forum, Bayramov also met with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov to discuss key aspects of bilateral relations.
The two sides underlined the strong foundation of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan ties, rooted in shared history, culture, and mutual respect. They explored further opportunities to deepen cooperation in energy, transport, and transit connectivity along strategic corridors linking Europe and Asia.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, stressing the importance of peace, stability, and sustainable development across the wider region, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple fields and maintaining close dialogue at all levels.
