France advises prosecutors conference participants against visiting Azerbaijan
This year, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs resorted to provocation to disrupt the annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors, held in Baku from September 29 to October 2.
Around ten representatives from France were expected to attend the event. However, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs warned them in writing that they could face arrest upon their arrival in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Citing this reasoning, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs advised its representatives not to travel to Azerbaijan. As a result, only three individuals from France attended the event.
Among them were Deputy Attorney General Gilles Charbonneau, secretary of the International Organisation of the Francophonie (IOF), and President of the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights Jean-François Thony.
They expressed satisfaction with their visit. The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs recommended that representatives from Francophone countries who had registered for the conference must also refrain from visiting Azerbaijan.
