France’s rights violations in New Caledonia highlight its resistance to UN decolonization efforts - BIG director

Abbas Abbasov, executive director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), made these remarks during a roundtable and press conference on "Decolonization, international diplomacy, and the role of communication in the modern world," Report informs.

He emphasized that the right to self-determination is fundamental, and BIG supports those striving for a better and honourable future for their people.

"BIG will continue to support the struggle of the Kanak people for their independence. We express our full solidarity with the Kanak people and support their just struggle against the expansion of the electorate and demand the cancellation of the amendments proposed by the French authorities. We call on France to stop its neo-colonial policy and ensure the Kanak people the freedom to determine their own destiny," Abbasov said.
