France, through its attitude towards Natavan monument, violates UNESCO principles ANAS president says
President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Isa Habibbayli has said that insulting attitude to the statue of outstanding poetess and public figure of Azerbaijan Khurshidbanu Natavan in France shows that this country does not attach any value to art.
He noted that France's inhumane attitude to the statue of the Azerbaijani poetess clearly demonstrates which level this country has descended, Report informs.
"As Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev rightly stated in an interview with local TV channels: "Desecration of the statue of Natavan, wrapping it in cellophane, which in itself represents an act of vandalism.... But this, I would say, is the bottom of moral degradation when anger, impotence and hysteria are vented onto a statue.” On the other hand, France's moral degradation shows that its political bankruptcy has reached an insurmountable limit," Habibbayli said.
He added that, so far, the French circles by their inhumane insulting attitude towards Khurshidbanu Natavan statue have also violated the principles of UNESCO, a member of the United Nations, and are losing credibility there.
