French politician alleges Ursula von der Leyen aims to drag France into war with Russia
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, is facing accusations of attempting to draw France into a war against Russia.
This allegation comes from Florian Philippot, leader of the French party “Patriots,” who made the claim on his social media account on X, Caliber.Az reports.

Philippot pointed out that von der Leyen recently met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which they reportedly agreed to enhance military cooperation with the alliance. “She just met with the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and announced their agreement to ‘intensify cooperation’... This is aimed at dragging us into a war against Russia and succumbing to the American deep state,” he asserted.
The politician further criticized von der Leyen for stating that “the escalation of Russia's war against Ukraine poses a serious threat to European security and global stability,” suggesting that this statement serves as a justification for her actions. Philippot has called for France to withdraw from both the EU and NATO, which he claims undermine France's national interests and promote war.
On October 29, NATO Secretary General Rutte and von der Leyen discussed strengthening military collaboration between NATO and the European Union. They announced the establishment of a new high-level task force aimed at enhancing this cooperation.
In their joint statement, they expressed concern that the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia “constitutes a significant escalation in the war against Ukraine and poses a serious threat to both European security and global peace.”
Rutte confirmed the presence of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia on October 28, following a press conference after meetings between NATO representatives and South Korean intelligence leaders. He characterized the deployment as a clear escalation of North Korea's involvement in Russia's illegal conflict and a further violation of UN Security Council resolutions, indicating a dangerous broadening of Russia's military campaign.
Rutte also mentioned that over 600,000 Russian military personnel have been killed or injured, leaving President Putin increasingly reliant on foreign support to maintain his offensive. The NATO chief described the growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea as a threat to security in both the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions, undermining peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula while fueling the conflict in Ukraine.
He highlighted that North Korea has already supplied Russia with millions of munitions and ballistic missiles, exacerbating the conflict in Europe and threatening global security. In exchange, Russia is reportedly providing North Korea with military technology and other support to help it evade international sanctions.
Recent reports from Ukrainian intelligence have indicated that approximately 12,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia, a claim that has also been corroborated by the Pentagon.
