Georgian Airways gets permission to operate flights to Russia
Georgian Airways has said that it has received permission for air communication with Russia.
The company's flights will fly to Moscow seven times a week starting May 20, Kommersant writes.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on flights to Georgia for Russian airlines and cancelled the visa regime for Georgian citizens as of May 15.
The Transport Ministry said Russian airlines would perform seven weekly flights from Moscow to Tbilisi and back using domestically produced aircraft.
Azimut was the first Russian company to receive a permit from the Georgian authorities. Its first flight from Moscow to Tbilisi will be on May 19. Red Wings applied as well.
The Georgian Ministry of Economy said a total of three Russian airlines have requested flights to Georgia.
