Georgian MP: Cooperation with Azerbaijan serves as guarantee of peace in South Caucasus

The support of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev is crucial for Georgia, Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament's Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Governance.

Cooperation between the two countries serves as a guarantee of peace in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

He emphasized that the wisdom of the leaders and people of Azerbaijan and Georgia has safeguarded the region from foreign values and unconventional trends.

"Neighboring, friendly countries must always pay attention to these matters to jointly address emerging issues and support each other. This contributes to strengthening the sovereignty and democracy of each country. I believe that cooperation plays a crucial role in resolving these challenges. Today, certain forces are trying to escalate the situation in Georgia, which is why the support of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev is very important for Georgia," Kadagishvili said.

According to him, the fact that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze chose Azerbaijan for his first official visit following parliamentary elections underscores the importance and productivity of the relations between the two countries.

"The friendship, good-neighborly relations, and strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan provide an excellent foundation for the further development of bilateral ties," he stressed.

Kadagishvili believes that the friendly relations between the two countries are of exceptional significance for peace and stability in the South Caucasus, as well as for economic development on both regional and international levels.
