Georgian PM guarantees peace with Russia to citizens
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that his government is doing everything possible to prevent a military conflict with Russia, Interfax reports.
"Our people have already fought with the Russian Federation, and in this regard we have experienced numerous troubles. The consequences of the August war in 2008 had devastating consequences for us. We guarantee the population that there will be no war in our country," Garibashvili told reporters on Friday.
He spoke out for peace and stability in the country, ruling out the opening of a so-called second front in Georgia in connection with hostilities in Ukraine.
"There will be no "second front" and there will be no war in Georgia, on the contrary, there will be development, construction and peace. We will not allow irresponsible calls to start a war from our internal enemies," the prime minister said.
