Georgian PM rejects BBC report’s “cheap provocation” on Tbilisi protests
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has slammed a string of accusations put forward in a recent report by the BBC publication, calling them nothing but "lies and cheap provocation."
“Lies and a cheap provocation orchestrated by foreign intelligence services,” he said.
The head of government responded to allegations claiming that the government was supposedly using dangerous substances against protestors in Tbilisi, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
“It is obvious that the BBC report is not only a lie, but also a cheap provocation planned by foreign intelligence services, pursuing two goals. The first is to give the ill-wishers of our country a pretext to artificially reignite the fading protest mood. The second is to create a reason to continue blackmailing the Georgian people and the government they elected. For achieving these two goals, this report is completely unsuitable,” Kobakhidze responded harshly at a press briefing.
The PM recalled that the OSCE ministerial meeting and the next session of the European Commission are approaching. He predicts that informal leaders will attempt to quote those false allegations disseminated by the BBC in their documents.
