Google maps for Azerbaijan's liberated territories to be updated

4MAPS Bilgi Teknolojileri LLC, a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, subordinate to the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones under Azerbaijan's Economy Ministry, has started work on updating Google Maps and other maps, as well as preparing 3D maps related to the territories liberated from occupation.

According to the Agency, when updating maps and preparing a 3D map, a LIDAR device is used, Report informs.

It is expected that in the near future the names of cities, villages, streets and other objects located in Karabakh will be indicated on online maps in Azerbaijani.

4MAPS Bilgi Teknolojileri LLC is a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. On the territory of the industrial park with an area of 1.5 hectares, LLC will implement the project "Organisation of research, cartographic and navigation services". 4MAPS Bilgi Teknolojileri is a representative of Apple Maps and Here Technologies applications in the CIS, the Middle East and Azerbaijan, and a representative of Yandex Maps in Azerbaijan.

Despite the fact that the main field of activity of the company is services for the collection, formation of geographical data, and production of 3D and 4D maps, it is also planned to provide services for the development of metaverse software products, games and applications in the centre under construction. With the implementation of the project, a Mapping Center (processing centre) for the countries of Eastern Europe, Georgia, the CIS and Central Asia will function in Azerbaijan.
