Head of UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan affirms strong UN backing for COP29 chairmanship

Kanako Mabuchi, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan, affirmed the UN's unwavering commitment to supporting the Chairmanship of the COP29 in achieving its ambitious objectives, per Report.

Speaking at the climate and water summit at ADA University in Baku, Mabuchi emphasized the critical importance of such gatherings, particularly as Azerbaijan prepares its National Commitments to Combat Climate Change (NDCs).

Mabuchi stressed that the COP is not merely an event but a comprehensive process. Each COP event serves as a stepping stone towards a collective aim: to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, aid vulnerable societies in managing the repercussions of climate change, and attain zero atmospheric pollution.
