Heydar Aliyev Foundation tackles water crisis in Rwanda with new well PHOTO
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has made a significant contribution to addressing the critical issue of drinking water, which remains a major challenge in many African countries.
Foundation’s ongoing "Development of Education and Culture in African Countries" project has seen a school in the Rwandan town of Rwamagana receive a much-needed supply of drinking water, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During her visit to Rwanda, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited the school.
As part of the project, a well was drilled on the school grounds, ensuring a sustainable water source capable of providing approximately 3 tonnes of drinking water per hour.
This initiative comes as a relief to the local community, which previously relied on rainwater for their water needs.
To recap, Leyla Aliyeva, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame met in Kigali to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda. Aliyeva conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President Kagame.
The meeting explored areas of cooperation, particularly through the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the potential for collaboration in various sectors.
President Aliyev had previously met with President Kagame, discussing Azerbaijan’s support to small island nations within the Commonwealth and the use of satellite technology to address climate challenges. Both leaders also explored the implementation of Azerbaijan’s "ASAN Service" model in Rwanda.
