The public television of Azerbaijan has prepared a report in which Sabir Gasimov, an eyewitness of the genocide in the village of Meshali, spoke about the armed attack by Armenians on December 21, 1991 against Azerbaijani residents of this settlement, Caliber.Az reports.
It should be noted that today Azerbaijani border guards at the Lachin border checkpoint detained Vagif Khachaturyan. The investigation established that on December 21, 1991, a native of the village of Badara, Askeran region, who lived in this village, Khachaturyan Vagif Cherkezovich, born in 1955, together with other persons of Armenian nationality, using various weapons, including firearms and infantry fighting vehicles, committed armed attack on the village of Meshali, during which 25 people of Azerbaijani nationality were killed, 14 people received bodily injuries of varying severity, and 358 people were forcibly evicted from their places of legal residence.
S. Gasimov spoke about the events of that sad day.
According to him, the Armenians surrounded the village and fired at the houses with machine guns, machine guns and grenade launchers. The village was defended by a self-defense battalion and a dozen military personnel, but the forces were unequal.
“As soon as the Armenians entered the village, they killed the family of Ganimat Guliyev: Ganimat himself, his wife Urba, sons Ismail and Matlab. In the family of Novruz Novruzov, Novruz himself, his wife Adilya, daughters of Rubab and Rakhil, and son Allahverdi died. From the family of Alaverdiyev Misura, a seventh-grader son Vidadi was killed, their neighbors Avaz and Goncha, Kazimov Khalil, Gasimov Anver, 80-year-old Suraya were also killed. Hussein Nurmamedov was seriously wounded. His nephews Ali and Nadir, as well as his wife Pakiz, wanted to take the wounded Hussein to Shusha, but the Armenians blocked their way at the exit from the village and shot them,” said an eyewitness to the tragedy.
Gasimov thanked the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and expressed hope that Khachaturian and his accomplices, who was detained today, would be brought to justice and incur a well-deserved punishment.
