Illegal Armenian gangs jam GPS systems of civilian aircraft over Karabakh MoD statement
The Illegal Armenian armed formations in the territories of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, have again intensified the use of radio interference against the GPS satellite navigation systems of passenger airplanes of domestic and foreign airlines flying using the airspace of Azerbaijan.
The illegal armed groups resorted to another provocation in order to threaten the safety of flights passing through the Azerbaijani airspace, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
“On August 21, from 10:15 to 10:23, the GPS satellite navigation systems were interrupted as a result of the application of radio interference to the ATR-45 passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines flying on the Fuzuli-Baku route,” the ministry specified.
Despite the fact that the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent was informed by the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, no action has been taken so far.
“We state that radio-technical interference with the safety of civil aviation is unacceptable and contrary to the rules established by the international civil aviation organization,” the ministry stressed.
