International parliamentary delegates visit Alley of Honor in Baku PHOTO
Participants of the International Parliamentary Conference, held on October 29 at the Milli Majlis to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Alley of Honor and the Alley of Martyrs, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Speaker of Azerbajan's Parliament Sahiba Gafarova, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Speaker of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan Faizali Idizoda, President of the Romanian Senate Mircea Abrudeanu, as well as heads and members of parliamentary delegations from other countries and representatives of international organisations, first arrived at the Alley of Honor. There, paying tribute to the memory of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people — the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, Heydar Aliyev — they laid a wreath at his grave.
The participants then visited the Alley of Martyrs, where they honored the bright memory of the heroic sons of the Fatherland who gave their lives in the struggle for the freedom and independence of Azerbaijan, laying flowers at their graves. A wreath was also laid at the “Eternal Flame” memorial.
Guests, who enjoyed the panoramic view of Baku from the city’s highest point, were provided with detailed information about the history of Martyrs’ Lane and the ongoing landscaping and construction projects in the capital.
