Iran lawmaker says UAE now treated as "hostile base"
A hardline Iranian lawmaker has said Tehran no longer considers the United Arab Emirates a neighbour and now views it as a “hostile base” for Iran’s adversaries.
Ali Khezrian, a member of parliament from Tehran, said on Thursday, May 8, that the UAE had taken direct actions against Iran during recent conflict developments, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
“We no longer see the United Arab Emirates as a neighbour,” Khezrian said. “They are considered a hostile base.”
He added that Iran’s revised military and defence doctrine toward the UAE mirrors its approach to Iraqi Kurdistan, a region Tehran has previously accused of hosting hostile networks and Israeli-linked activity.
The comments underscore rising regional tensions amid broader geopolitical friction between Iran and Gulf Arab states, particularly over security alignments and perceived cooperation with Iran’s rivals.
