Iran showcases missile strength amid diplomacy with US
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have positioned the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile in underground facilities, a senior commander said, signalling a strong message even as Tehran enters indirect talks with the United States.
Majid Mousavi, commander of the Guards’ aerospace force, attended the unveiling of a new underground “missile city” where the Khorramshahr-4 was displayed, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
The presentation took place just hours before the Muscat-hosted Iran-US talks began.
According to state-run Press TV, the Khorramshahr-4, described as one of Iran’s most advanced long-range ballistic missiles, has a range of roughly 2,000 km and can carry a 1,500-kg warhead. The missile has been deployed at one of the aerospace force’s underground sites.
Officials framed the deployment as part of a shift in Iran’s military doctrine from defensive to offensive, intended to signal strength to both regional and extra-regional adversaries.
In an interview with state-linked media, Guards' political deputy Yadollah Javani said the missile display demonstrated that Iran “would not give up its military strength while pursuing diplomacy.”
“We are not seeking war, but if the other side makes a mistake, we will respond decisively,” Javani added.
The display coincided with recent moves by the Trump administration, which has sent additional military assets to the Middle East in recent weeks.
