Iranian president denies nuclear weapons ambitions Criticizes US policy
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly denied accusations from the United States and its allies that Iran's nuclear program is intended for the development of nuclear weapons.
In his article published by the Tehran Times, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran's defence strategy does not include nuclear weapons and called on the US to revise its policies based on past mistakes, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Pezeshkian highlighted the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program and the subsequent imposition of unilateral sanctions, which he claims have caused "hundreds of billions of dollars in damage" to Iran's economy.
He accused the US of "state terrorism," citing the targeted killing of General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Pezeshkian asserted that the US and its Western allies have "abused the non-proliferation regime to fabricate a crisis" around Iran's peaceful nuclear program, using it to exert continuous pressure on the Iranian people.
"The United States needs to recognize reality and understand once and for all that Iran does not and will not respond to pressure," Pezeshkian stressed.
