Iraq keen to further develop relations with Azerbaijan Foreign minister says
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has affirmed his country's keenness to develop relations with Azerbaijan as he met with Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
FM Bayramov noted that intensive mutual contacts and visits between Azerbaijan and Iraq contribute to the successful development of relations in various fields, including political, economic, trade, energy security, investment, culture and other ones. He emphasized that based on historical friendship and solidarity, the relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq are manifested in mutual support, including within regional and international platforms, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
Minister Bayramov highlighted the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change which Azerbaijan will host this year, pointed out possible areas of cooperation, and expressed confidence that the Iraqi side would actively participate in the process. He also spoke about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, reconstruction and renovation works in the territories liberated from occupation, the current state of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation process.
FM Hussein affirmed Iraq’s keenness to further develop relations with Azerbaijan, and emphasized the need to use the existing potential to expand cooperation.
