IRGC: Missile strike hit Israeli targets before ceasefire was in effect
Iran’s final missile strike on Israeli military and support sites was carried out just minutes before the latest ceasefire came into force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on June 24.
In a statement published by the Defense Group of Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC described the attack — the 22nd wave of Operation Sadeq Promise 3 — as a “historic and memorable lesson” for the Israeli military. The operation involved the launch of 14 missiles at various locations ain Israel, Caliber.Az reports.
The IRGC said the strikes were in retaliation for an Israeli attack that killed several Iranian citizens. The statement accused Israel of resorting to US help to negotiate a ceasefire after becoming “desperate” in the face of Iranian resistance.
It added that Iranian forces “continue to monitor enemy movements with vigilance.”
According to diplomatic sources, the ceasefire initiative followed a US-proposed peace plan that was coordinated in advance with Israeli authorities. After securing Israel’s agreement, Trump reportedly asked Qatar to help mediate with Tehran. Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani subsequently held talks with Iranian officials and obtained what was described as Tehran’s conditional consent to the truce.
