Karabakh triumph becomes catalyst for Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan alliance Opinion by Turkish professor
The celebrations marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory in the Patriotic War have gone beyond honouring the country’s heroes, symbolising a strategic resurgence of the Turkic world and the integration of brotherhood ideals into state policy.
This perspective was highlighted in an article by the Turkish newspaper Sabah, titled “Baku on the Fifth Anniversary of the Karabakh Victory: Light of Victory, Shadow of Fate”, as reported by local media.
Professor Mehmet Yüce, the author, underscored the significance of the Shusha Declaration, which formalised the alliance between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
He also emphasised the growing trilateral cooperation involving Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan.
According to Yüce, the participation of Islamabad in this partnership has transformed the Ankara-Baku platform into a new geopolitical axis of solidarity within the Turkic-Islamic world. The Karabakh victory, he noted, is not only a continuation of the historical achievements of the Turkic world but also a pledge toward building a shared future for the Turkic nation.
The article highlights President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s active role in supporting Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. During the military parade in Baku, Erdoğan’s statements conveyed that the historical and cultural ties between the two nations represent not merely bonds of brotherhood but also a strategic alliance of two strong, sovereign states ready to coordinate on the international stage.
In addition, the publication addressed the recent crash of a Turkish Air Force transport plane in Georgia. Yüce praised the resilience demonstrated by both Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the face of the tragedy, presenting it as another sign of unity and cohesion between the brotherly nations.
Overall, the Sabah report portrays the Karabakh victory anniversary as a moment that strengthens political, cultural, and military ties between Baku, Ankara, and Islamabad, reflecting a broader strategy of solidarity and cooperation in the Turkic-Islamic world.
