Karadeniz Press: Azerbaijan shapes geopolitical future of South Caucasus
Azerbaijan is increasingly establishing itself as a key geopolitical force in the South Caucasus, according to an analytical piece published by the Romanian news agency Karadeniz Press.
The article titled "South Caucasus: Reconfiguration of Geopolitical Interests and New Regional Dynamics," authored by political analyst Damian Dmitri, highlights Azerbaijan's role in shaping the future of the South Caucasus region, Caliber.Az reports.
It is noted that the country offers a stable space where new energy corridors and transportation routes intersect.
In recent years, significant changes in the South Caucasus have further bolstered Azerbaijan’s standing as a regional power. The decisive victory in Karabakh in 2023, the deepening of strategic ties with Türkiye, and the expansion of energy cooperation with the European Union have positioned Baku as one of the primary geopolitical players in the area.
The article points out that Azerbaijan has effectively leveraged its natural resources and geographical location, playing a pivotal role in determining the future of the South Caucasus. The growing influence of Azerbaijan is also impacting other countries in the region.
The expansion of the Zangezur Corridor and rising energy exports are expected to transform Baku into not only the regional economic hub but also further strengthen its position as a significant diplomatic player on the international stage.
