Kazakh FM sees peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan as gateway to global opportunities
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu has praised the ongoing normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling it a pivotal moment that offers vast geostrategic opportunities for countries beyond the region.
During an expanded-format meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on March 27, Nurtleu emphasized that this significant shift in relations between the two South Caucasus nations opens doors for broader international engagement, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.
“The normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations opens wide prospects for many countries outside the region to take advantage of the geostrategic opportunities of the South Caucasus,” said Nurtleu.
The visit marks an important moment, as it coincides with key agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Nurtleu highlighted that Mirzoyan’s first official visit to Kazakhstan is taking place against the backdrop of critical breakthroughs in peace negotiations.
“We attach special importance to this visit and view it as an important step in the further development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Armenia. Your current visit to Kazakhstan comes at a time when significant agreements have been reached with the Republic of Azerbaijan. The completion of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the text of the peace agreement, with approval, was welcomed by the international community,” Nurtleu noted.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister also underscored the positive shift, praising the responsible and measured approach taken by both Armenia and Azerbaijan, which now seem poised to open a new chapter in their long-standing relationship.
“Kazakhstan welcomes the progress made and hopes that the opened window of opportunity will contribute to the swift conclusion of a historic peace agreement,” he added.
