Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan sign 16 cooperation agreements at business forum in Astana
Sixteen cooperation agreements were signed between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan following a bilateral business forum held in Astana, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Aidar Abildabekov announced.
The agreements, primarily memoranda of understanding, were concluded between representatives of the two countries’ business communities, with a notable focus on the information technology sector. Abildabekov stated that five Kazakh IT companies had reached deals to supply software solutions for schools and higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az repors per local media.
The forum, which took place as part of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Kazakhstan, brought together around 100 business representatives from both countries.
Abildabekov also noted that mutual trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan amounted to $343 million in the first eight months of 2025. Of that, Kazakhstan’s exports accounted for $290 million. He noted that Kazakhstan primarily exports wheat, oil, food products, and petroleum products to Azerbaijan, while importing metal structures, aluminium, polymers, alcoholic beverages, and fruit from its Caspian neighbor.
In 2024, overall trade turnover between the two countries reached $534 million, with $485 million comprising Kazakh exports, according to official Kazakh data.
During the forum, Kazakhstan proposed expanding its export offerings to Azerbaijan by including a broader range of agricultural products.
