Kazakhstan’s airborne forces launch training for UAV operators
Kazakhstan’s Airborne Assault Forces will begin formal training for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, the country’s Ministry of Defence announced.
According to the ministry, the forces have made significant strides in developing unmanned aerial systems, establishing a complete operational cycle from assembly and configuration to testing and deployment to troops, Caliber.Az reports.
The new training programme will be conducted at the Airborne Assault Forces Training Centre by instructors with specialised expertise and practical experience operating a variety of UAVs. The ministry highlighted that the units have already gained operational experience during the Desant-2025 exercises, where they conducted air reconnaissance, coordinated aviation and artillery fire, assessed battle damage, and provided real-time command and control support.
Currently, the Airborne Assault Forces operate tactical UAVs manufactured both domestically and abroad, with ongoing efforts to modernise and improve these systems. UAV units were established in 2024 and have since been steadily building operational experience and infrastructure.
In December 2025, a dedicated drone workshop was inaugurated, where military personnel successfully assembled 100 drones in a single month, further strengthening Kazakhstan’s UAV capabilities.
