Kemi Seba: As France supports Armenia, we naturally support Azerbaijan
The NGO “Urgences Panafricanistes” is seeking support from Azerbaijan and views the Baku Initiative Group as a genuine ally, said Kemi Seba, head of the NGO.
Seba added that he is in Baku because he knows what the city can offer him, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"I believe that together we will achieve great things, and since France supports Armenia, we naturally support Azerbaijan."
"We are here because we are tired of Western oppression. We have come to Azerbaijan seeking support, and I believe Baku will offer us assistance, whether for a short or long term. We are looking for sincere friends here, and we see the Baku Initiative Group as one," Séba said.
He added that four major colonial systems in Europe still exert their influence today.
Notably, Séba has been fighting against imperialism for 25 years and has witnessed racial discrimination against Black people. "I have been imprisoned twice due to the French regime. I was arrested twice in France and twice in Africa, and I was fortunate enough to be released. Oligarchic France continues to influence Africa's Black population and justifies Western presence, working through its diasporas," Séba stated.
Kémi Séba, born in Strasbourg, France in 1981, is recognised as a symbolic leader of the African independence and sovereignty movement. He is also a vocal critic of French neo-colonialism. In 2024, the French government revoked Séba's French citizenship due to his outspoken criticism of France’s colonial policies and his support for independence movements in France's overseas territories.
Despite repeated attempts by French authorities to silence him, Séba continues his activism. In response to losing his citizenship, the President of Niger appointed him as a special advisor, and several African countries granted him a diplomatic passport.
Séba has a significant social media presence, with 1.3 million followers on Facebook, 370,000 on TikTok, 306,000 on Instagram, 280,000 on X, and 230,000 on YouTube.
