Key Zangazur Corridor highway almost complete, state agency official says
Construction of the Horadiz–Jabrayil–Zangilan–Aghband highway, a vital link in the Zangazur Corridor, is 95% complete, said Ziyaddin Hasanov, a specialist from the Azerbaijan State Agency of Automobile Roads.
“The Horadiz–Jabrayil–Zangilan–Aghband highway, a critical component of the Zangezur Corridor, is 95% complete. The total length of the road is 123.6 kilometres and it is divided into two sections. The first section, measuring 78.5 km, consists of six lanes, while the second section of 45.1 km has four lanes. Lane widths are 14 and 21 metres, with the roadbed thickness ranging from 21.5 to 29 metres,” Hasanov told journalists, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that the highway will feature eight intersections, 44 underpasses, five overpasses, and 314 drainage structures to ensure proper water management.
The project also includes three tunnels totaling 12 kilometres. Drilling work has been completed, and the construction is currently in the concrete and asphalt phase.
According to Hasanov, the highway will have 24 bridges, 23 of which have already been completed, with the final bridge actively under construction. Completion of the highway is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Hasanov also noted that the road will function as a toll route. However, a parallel free road connecting Horadiz–Jabrayil–Zangilan has already been constructed and is operational, providing an alternative for motorists.
